Ghana Launches National Chocolate Week 2025 to Promote Local Cocoa Products

On February 7th, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), in partnership with the Ghana Cocoa Board (Cocobod) and the Cocoa Processing Company (CPC), officially launched the 2025 edition of National Chocolate Week. This flagship event aims to promote the consumption of Ghanaian chocolate and other cocoa-based products, underscoring their economic importance.
During the launch, held at the GTA headquarters, CEO Mrs. Maame Efua Houadjeto and Deputy CEO (Operations) Ekow Sampson expressed their commitment to advancing the chocolate sector within the Ghanaian economy. Sampson encouraged the hospitality industry to incorporate chocolate-themed dishes and distribute complimentary chocolates to patrons on February 14th, fostering a sense of national pride and love.
He also highlighted the numerous health benefits of chocolate, including its ability to lower blood pressure, enhance brain function, and reduce stress levels. “We need to look inward to appreciate the richness of Ghana’s cocoa and increase consumption of premium Ghanaian chocolate,” he stated.
National Chocolate Day was established in 2005 to coincide with Valentine’s Day, celebrated annually on February 14th. This year’s theme is “Eat Chocolate, Stay Healthy, Grow Ghana,” accompanied by the sub-theme “Chocolate for All: Taste, Share and Care.”
