The Ghana Association of Assembly Members (GAAM) has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for incorporating the concerns of assembly members in their manifesto for the upcoming December polls.

In a statement released by GAAM and signed by its leaders, the executives commended the NDC for recognizing the importance of assembly members and their contribution to the country’s economic development. GAAM noted that the inclusion of hon members monthly allowance in their manifesto launch demonstrates the NDC’s commitment to supporting and developing the local governance, decentralization and rural entity.

“We are thrilled to see that our concerns have been taken into account. “The NDC’s manifesto acknowledges the challenges faced by assembly members. We consider it a great honor having visited the party’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, in 2020 and presented our concerns. They have proposed practical solutions to addressing. This shows that the NDC party values our contributions and are willing to work with us to create a more conducive environment for growth.

GAAM specifically praises the NDC’s proposals to:

– Pay a monthly allowance to assembly members, which they believe will enhance development and lessen the burdens on assembly members, boosting their morale to perform their duties.

“These proposals demonstrate a clear understanding of our needs. We are happy that the monthly allowance which have been a major concern for us over the past years will be solved.

It will stimulate development, promote local governance, and encourage active participation in nation-building.”

GAAM’s expression of gratitude comes as the association continues to advocate for policies that support the growth and development of local assemblies. By acknowledging the NDC’s efforts, GAAM hopes to encourage other political parties to follow suit.

As the December polls approach, GAAM urges all stakeholders to prioritize the needs of assembly members. “We believe that assembly members have the potential to drive development in their respective electoral areas. We look forward to working with the next government to realize this potential.”

The local government and assembly members are significant contributors to Ghana’s economy, providing opportunities for development. However, they face numerous challenges, including limited funding and inadequate resources. GAAM believes that the NDC’s proposals will help address these challenges and create a more sustainable future.

In conclusion, GAAM’s sincere gratitude to the NDC reflects the association’s commitment to collaborative advocacy. By working together, GAAM and political parties can create a brighter future for assembly members in Ghana. GAAM calls on all assembly members to support policies that promote growth and development. “Together, we can create a thriving system that benefits everyone’.
