Former MP Stages a Comeback…Files Nomination to Contest Ayawaso North NDC Primaries

Former Youth and Sports Minister, hon. Major Rtd Dr. Mustapha Ahmed has filed his nomination forms to contest the upcoming National Democratic Congress NDC primaries slated for August 2019.

Major Rtd Mustapha stormed the party office amidst drumming and singing from his teaming supporters.

Briefing audience, the Constituency Chairman, Mr. Ahmed Tahiru confirmed that only two candidates are contesting for the primaries.

He urged his supporters to be mindful of campaign messages and attacks on the opponent as this is only an internal party contest.

He called on them to desist from name calling and rancor that would jeopardize the chances of the party in the constituency come the 2020 elections.

Dr. Mustapha Ahmed, a former member of parliament for the area, was very optimistic of winning the primaries.

Addressing his supporters, candidate Mustapha appealed to them to ensure there is a clean campaign devoid of insults and attacks.

He stressed on the need for a strong unity within the party during and after the primaries to face the ruling New Patriotic Party NPP in 2020.

He told press men after filling his nomination that his comeback was in response to numerous calls on him by party delegates and supporters.

“After careful weighing and consulting, I need not to turn the call of the people since the voice of the people is the voice of God”, he stated.

Major rtd. Mustapha Ahmed lost the 2015 primaries to the incumbent , Yusif Jaja, who was given massive endorsement from party delegates.

The former army officer is in a straight contest with the incumbent member of parliament MP, hon. Yusif Jaja.
