Mr. Mawuli Kpodo – Labour Expert

A Labour Expert, Mr. Mawuli Kpodo has advised government to issue a directive for all public institutions to install biometric attendance machine.

He said the directive would ensure that ministry, department and agencies (MDAs) become an effective productive sector as compared to the private sector.

“The president must have the political will by issuing a directive for all public institutions to install a biometric attendance machine at their offices to monitor the movement of staff,” Mr. Kpodo told the Telegraph Ghana in Accra.

Mr. Kpodo who is the Executive Director of Centre for Labour Right Advocacy (CENLRA), also encouraged government to set up physical monitoring and performance target for workers which he stated would ensure that there’s effective productivity.

“Once people clock in and clock out, the system would start working but the physical monitoring and setting up performance target should be in place for effective productivity at the work place” he said.

Mr. Kpodo cautioned government to desist from giving employment to people base on their political affiliation; but rather those with the requisite qualification.

He stressed on the need for employees to work in teams and be ethical at the work place in order to improve productivity.

He also advised workers, who spend their time on unproductive activities such as social media at the place of work to cease, which he stressed would enable better productivity.

Mr. Kpodo asked both employers and employees to be time conscious to enable tasks to be accomplished as scheduled.

“It is very important for employers and workers to draw work schedules on a daily basis,”
