The Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Eric Edem Agbana, has strongly criticized successive governments for neglecting Ohawu Agricultural College, an important institution for the country’s agricultural and educational growth.

In a passionate Facebook post on Saturday, August 2, the MP expressed his frustration over the college’s poor condition. He accused all successive administrations of breaking their promises to improve the institution.

“For far too long, governments have not given Ohawu Agric College the attention it deserves,” Mr. Agbana said. “It is disheartening that a school with such great potential continues to be ignored.”

The MP pointed out that major political parties made significant promises in their manifestos during the 2016, 2020, and 2024 elections to turn Ohawu Agric College into a full university. However, none of those promises have been fulfilled.

“As the representative of the chiefs and people of Ketu North, where this important college is located, I see it as my responsibility to lead the effort for change,” he said, highlighting his dedication to the cause.

Mr. Agbana mentioned that recent discussions with the Minister for Education went well, indicating that the Mahama’s government may finally be considering reviving the college.

“His commitment gives us renewed hope that this long-overdue transformation can actually happen,” he said.

He assured his constituents that he would not give up until the government takes action.

“We will not stop advocating. This is not just about promises; it is about building a better future through investing in agriculture and education,” he stated.

The MP’s comments have generated renewed demands from residents and alumni for immediate action to enhance the college, which they see as a sleeping giant in Ghana’s agricultural sector.
