The National Democratic Congress, NDC has exposed lies by the General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party, NPP, John Boadu with the video of him stating that the NDC has won the parliamentary majority.

Even though, Mr. Boadu addressing news men in Accra denied making such statements after the 2020 polls but a video captures him making the claim.

This was contained in a press release by the election directorate of the NDC and signed by its Deputy Director of Elections, Daniel Amartey Mensah in Accra last Sunday.

VIDEO EVIDENCE EXISTS TO PROVE JOHN BOADU’S ADMISSION OF
NDC’S MAJORITY IN PARLIAMENT

Our attention has been drawn to a statement from the office of the General Secretary of the New
Patriotic Party, John Boadu denying claims that he categorically stated that NPP lost the parliamentary elections to the NDC even though Nana Akufo-Addo won the 2020 presidential elections.

John Boadu’s press release is a rather feeble attempt to backtrack on a statement he categorically made that the NPP lost the parliamentary majority to the NDC.

Mr. John Boadu while addressing the media at the NPP’s National Collation Centre in December
last year said: “Nana Addo Dankwa won overwhelmingly the presidential elections with a margin of over seven hundred thousand BUT… WE LOST THE PARLIAMENTARY. THE NDC WON even with a lesser margin. It is on that basis the Ghanaian people decided” (Video evidence attached).

Ghanaians would recall that subsequent to this admission by Mr. John Boadu, the NPP
government deployed persons in military uniforms to some constituency collation centres to
cause mayhem and forcibly declare parliamentary election results in favour of the New Patriotic Party to overturn the NDC majority in Parliament.

The indiscriminate shootings at some of these centres led to the deaths of 8 persons – a development which is unprecedented in Ghana’s electoral history.

Classic cases in point are Techiman South, Sefwi Wiawso, Tarkwa Nsuaem, Essikado-Ketan, Sene West, Zabzugu, Ablekuma North and Odododiodio constituencies.

At present, some of these cases are still in court.

The evidence is there for all Ghanaians to see how the NPP manipulated the Electoral Commission to declare the presidential results in favour of Nana Akufo-Addo. The 2020 election Presidential Election results have left doubts in the minds of Ghanaians on the credibility of the elections and the legitimacy of the presidency of Nana Akufo-Addo.

It is still unclear which of the results of the Electoral Commission is authentic since the Commission changed the results
about six times its bid to declare Nana Akufo-Addo winner of the elections. The hostile approach adopted by the Supreme Court in the Presidential Election Petition case even made matters worse.

We condemn in no uncertain terms John Boadu’s unwarranted attacks on the Rt. Honourable Speaker of Parliament, A.S.K. Bagbin for speaking the truth.

We wish to state categorically that John Boadu cannot run away from his own words. He must have the courage to accept authorship of the above words and boldly stand by same.

In spite of all the machinations by the Nana Akufo-Addo-Bawumia and the NPP including the
crude removal and replacement of the Chairperson and deputies of the Electoral Commission as well as the training and deployment of vigilantes, the abysmal performance of the NPP in the 2020 elections is obvious for all to see.

The results show a party that has lost touch with Ghanaians and yet try to use brute force and dubious schemes to illegitimately remain in power.

Instead of attacking the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament for speaking the truth, we wish to urge John Boadu to be rather concerned about the cries of Ghanaians as a result of the untold hardship of the failed Akufo-Addo – Bawumia have brought on Ghanaians due to bad governance, unprecedented corruption and the wanton mismanagement of the economy.

Signed
Hon. Daniel Amartey
(Deputy Director of Elections)
