Most recently, Digital innovation has arguably enabled a space of technological progress not seen by any generation other than the present.

This is why many nations across the world including Ghana recognized the need to equip young people with the knowledge and skills to drive innovation as a foundation to growth in the digital economy.

The Government, through the Ministry of Communications, has approached this need with multi-pronged digital transformation efforts.

Specifically, the objective is to raise the level of productivity across sectors through the application of technology.

The new digital skills was launched over the week by the Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and the Minister of Communications and Digitilisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, at the Accra Digital Centre.

Users will have the option of accessing the online tutoring in local languages, resolving any language challenge that would impede access to the portal.

The portal, can be access live at http://www.gksb.gov.gh, and can be use by students at all levels.

The new portal was designed by a local technology company, Nponto Technologies.

In line with that, and with the clear intention of boosting the contribution of the digital economy to the nation’s gross domestic product, Ghana has launched key infrastructure and capacity building initiatives that would form the foundation for Ghanas’s digital transformation.

The free-access platform powered by artificial intelligence (AI) has options for self-learning and self-assessment.

The platform will allow users to create or join forums for learning and sharing of ideas, giving a classroom feeling in the digital space.

The portal also has a career planning tool, and an online tutoring system that assists users to overcome their challenges in any topic or subject area.

Boosting Ghana’s digital workforce, the platform is designed as an all inclusive approach, that will train individuals from diverse backgrounds and regions of Ghana, ensuring broad participation in the digital economy.
