The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has issued a landmark directive to the Management of the Lands Commission, mandating the decentralization of its operations within a stringent two-month timeframe.

This bold move aims to tackle the perennial challenges of inaccessibility, bureaucratic red tape, and land disputes that have long plagued the system.

“Land is a critical asset for our people, and it is unacceptable that citizens have to travel long distances to regional capitals to access basic land services,” Hon.Buah emphatically stated on May 20.

“This decentralization will not only enhance efficiency but also restore public trust in the Commission’s ability to manage land resources fairly and effectively,” he underscored.

To spearhead this ambitious initiative, the Minister has tasked the newly appointed Acting Executive Secretary, Prof. Anthony Owusu-Ansah, to ensure that all district offices are fully operational and equipped to handle land registrations, title certifications, and dispute resolutions within the stipulated timeframe.

Prof. Owusu-Ansah has pledged to uphold the Minister’s vision, affirming, “We will work to ensure that Ghanaians, no matter where they are, can access prompt and professional land services. This decentralization is the first step in rebuilding the Commission’s reputation as a responsive and people-centered institution.”

In this development , the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources heralds a new move in coutry’s land administration sector, characterized by accessibility, efficiency, and accountability.
