Clergy Demonstrates Against Illegal Mining
The Roman Catholic archdiocese has joined the civil society groups in the country to demonstration against the continued pollution of water bodies by illegal miners popularly known as “galamsey”.
The demonstration by the clergy saw the participation of some other religious sects in the country to presss home their for the government immediate intervention to stop galamsey.
”our struggle is that we want galamsey to end and our water bodies to be fixed. Any group that is willing to march on that objective, you can count on our full support to be part of them” NII AYI SAGOE, a member of the democratic hub said.
Addressing the crowd, the SVD of the roman catholic church Rev. Godwin Fiawoy called on the government to take further action to protect the water bodies and an immediate ban on galamsey operation.
He also urged worshipers to pray to God so that the galamsey problem will be solve everlastingly.
Also the crusaders against galamsey who were part of the demonstration led by chief crusader Emmanuel Wilson Junior, called on government to put a total ban on the activities in the country and send soldiers at various galamsey sites across the country.
