Julius Debrah, the Chief of Staff, representing President John Mahama, emphasized the need for stronger collaboration among stakeholders in the petroleum sector during a strategic meeting with affected community members and the Coalition of Concerned Nzema Citizens (CCNC) at the Jubilee House.

At the meeting, Isaac Kojo Ndede, the leader of the CCNC, highlighted the significant progress made under President Mahama’s administration compared to previous governments. He noted that the president had confirmed receiving a petition from the affected communities and the coalition, assuring that a response would be provided within three weeks.

Ndede expressed optimism regarding the Chief of Staff’s response, stating, “This gives us hope that our petition will be addressed for the benefit of the people of Western Nzema.” He urged for immediate direct negotiations to address key concerns, including a demand for a 15% employment share for locals and equitable land use compensation for future generations.

During the press briefing, Ndede called on industries operating in their communities, along with local leaders and security agencies, to identify specific challenges facing the petroleum hub and collaborate on implementing inclusive and realistic solutions.
