A breast cancer awareness event was organised with a free health screening exercise including various sporting disciplines over the weekend at the Tang plaza in Accra.

The initiative was part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time when global attention is focused on the importance of early detection and prevention of the disease.

The event was supported by safety communication consult’s CEO Eric Apedo who offers his expertise to health professionals from various hospitals, including midwives.

During health screening event, attendees were taken through the importance of regular breast self-examinations and early detection of breast cancer by Daniele Nicol.

Madam Daniele Nicol stated that both men and women should prioritise self-exams on their breast as early detection can significantly improve treatment outcomes.

The healthcare professional also directed participants to local facilities offering mammogram services, providing information on the procedure’s cost.

They recommended that individuals aged 45 and above should have a mammogram at least once a year.

The event drew about 50 participants, including non-members like Madam Debrah Ampenebea, who was highly appreciative of the initiative and place third in the table tennis competition.

She praised the organizers for their efforts and expressed her satisfaction with the health talks and screenings.

This health screening exercise not only served to promote health awareness but also showcased the ongoing partnership between safety communication network and clinic, all working together to improve the well-being of the community.
