Black Galaxies Fails To Qualify For African Nations Championship
Nigeria Super Eagles defeated Ghana 3-1 to qualify for the 2025 African Nations Championship at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Saturday.
The first leg match ended 0-0 in Ghana, but the hosts produced a stunning performance to seal their place in the competition in style.
Nigeria raced to a 3-0 lead in the first half courtesy of goals from Sadiq Ismail, captain Nduka Junior, and Saviour Isaac.
Though Ghana made a spirited effort in the final moments, Nigeria remained composed.
The Black Galaxies pulled a goal back with 20 minutes to go through Stephen Amankuna to make it 3-1.However, they returned stronger in the second half, enjoying more possession and creating opportunities.
Despite this pressure, they struggled to convert.
It is also the first time the home-based Eagles will defeat their Ghanaian counterparts in three attempts.
The tournament will be co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania from February 1-25, 2025.
