The Nii Odai Ntow Family of Kwabenya has dispelled claims that the Queen mother of Kwabenya, suburb of Accra in the Dome Kwabenya Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, Naa Korkoi Dugbatey II,  of Nii Abbey We, has been distooled.

It says from time immemorial, the Nii Odai Ntow Family has been made up of four gates, Nii Abbey We, Nii Tetteh Afrimie, Nii Anteh Kwarkonam and Ashong Dzemawon gates, who are the owners of Kwabenya, Ashongman, Agbogba, Dome, Taifa and its adjoining communities.

Addressing a press conference at Kwabenya in Accra, Naa Korkoi Dugbatey II, stated that the supposed installation of a new Queen mother at the Kwabenya community was maliciously orchestrated by some detractors whose sole agenda was to sell Kwabenya lands.

According to her, the Kwao Obuabasa family who claimed to have installed a Queen mother in the person of Odame , a USA returnee with several Asafoatsemei have no powers to do so.

Naa Korkoi Dugbatey II explained that, in Kingship the one who owns a town is the only person who is mandated to install a Maŋtsɛ and other traditional leaders. She emphasized that since the Kwao Obuoabasa family has no land in Kwabenya, they have no authority to install anyone as a traditional leader.

Naa Korkoi Dugbatey II further pointed out that, in Kwabenya, all traditional office holders are nominated, selected and installed as such by Nii Abbey We Dzasefoi and none else.

The queen re-emphasized that she is still the legitimate Queen mother and until her passing out, she will continue to be the GAZZETED Kwabenya Maŋnyɛ as the Chieftiancy Act promulgates and with her 26 years reign on the throne adding that Kwabenya is looking forward to celebrating 30 years of her leadership.

She stated that Nii Abbey We Dzasefoi is strongly and in full support of all actions being executed by the Nii Abbey We family.

She called on the Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs and the National Security to take note of the unfortunate situation and help to stem it down before it gets out of control, as land guards are being recruited as traditional office holders into the peaceful Kwabenya township.
