Ayawaso East NDC Constituency Executives Dump MP For His Opponents
Constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ayawaso East Constituency of the Greater Accra Region have thrown in their weights behind the opponents of the sitting.
Though not official, but this portal can report on authority that over 80% of the constituency executives are not in support of the Member of Parliament (MP) Hon. Mahama Toure’s reelection.
It is not clear what informed their decision to throw their weight behind other contestants but information gathered indicates that there are serious cracks within the ranks and file of executives over the MP’s seeking reelection.
Even though some executives have openly declared their stands and choice of candidate ahead of the parliamentary primaries, others have also pitched camp with their favorite candidates.
Those who spoke with this reporter on condition of anonymity said their decision was personal and genuine.
But Ghanaian Democrat learnt that some of the executives peeved with the MP has to do with some contracts benefit that ought to be brought to the constituency party office but diverted without any explanation.
They have accused the MP of been bias and deliberately running a one man show to render the executives useless.
Candidate whose name have been mentioned to contest in the upcoming parliamentary primaries include Hon. Baba Jamal, former Deputy Minister for Employment and Labour Relations and immediate past Member of Parliament for Akwatia constituency in the Eastern Region and Dr. Yakubu Mohammed Azindoo, a USA based lecturer and a known party member in the constituency.
Though none of the candidate has officially declared his intention to contest, all indications and preparation are far advance.
