AWW Shooting: Victims Partners Storm Gender Ministry to Demand Justice
The wifes’ of the Ayawaso West Wougoun by – election shooting victims have stormed the Ministry of Gender,Children and Social Protection to demand for justices for their husbands.
Though efforts to get the Minister to
receive their petition was marred with challenges as the staff of the Ministry informed them that the Minister was not in office which they thought otherwise until the Chief Director came to receive the petition on behalf of the Ministry and the President.
The petition presented by Amina Umar, one of the sisters to the victim demands immediate action to be taken by the President against the perpetrators of the violence.
The petitioners also demanded the full implementation of the recommendations of the Short Commission which was set up by the President to take evidence of the by – election violence.
“Expedite action to bring us out of our misery by ensuring that the perpetrators of this heinous crime against our husbands are made to face the full rigours of the law. We want justice to be seen to have been àdelivered in the matter”, the petition demanded.
According to them, the brutality suffered by their husbands in the hands of masked men have maimed and incapacitated their husbands, with one of them still struggling to with the possibility of having his legs amputated at the 37 Military Hospital.
About 18 people werereportedto have sustained gun shot injuries during the Ayawaso WestWougon by-elections.
The gunmen, believed to be members of Invisible Forces, a political vigilante group, shot sporadically, leaving residents to run for their lives.
The masked gunmen allegedly appeared in military uniform and started shooting at the scores of people who had gathered at Mr Brempong’s residence.
