Attorney-General Dr. Dominic Ayine has issued a stern admonition to financial institutions dealing with Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, prohibiting the movement of any assets or funds belonging to him and his wife.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Monday, March 24, Ayine emphasized that the Financial Intelligence Centre is meticulously monitoring the accounts owned by Adu-Boahene and his wife.

Ayine revealed that investigations have unearthed suspicious transactions involving Adu-Boahene and his companies, including Advantage Solutions Limited and BNC Communications Bureau Limited. “Investigations have also established that money mostly proceeds of crime from Advantage Solutions Limited and BNC Communications Bureau Limited and other similar sources have been transmitted under very suspicious circumstances through the bank accounts of these companies,” he stated.

The Attorney-General cautioned that any bank manager or employee found to be complicit in moving Adu-Boahene’s assets or money will be held liable and arrested.

“All banks are also warned that if we detect any wire transfers or cash withdrawals on any of the accounts belonging to Mr. Adu-Boahene and his companies, the Bank Managers and all their employees who are involved in those transfers will equally be arrested,” Ayine warned.

Furthermore, Ayine announced that Adu-Boahene may have acquired another citizenship using his amassed wealth, highlighting that investigations have revealed Adu-Boahene possesses two service passports, and the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) is investigating intelligence suggesting he holds a foreign passport. “The massive wealth he has accumulated, it is possible he has purchased another citizenship,” Ayine noted.

Adu-Boahene was taken into custody on Thursday, March 20, 2025, upon his arrival in Ghana from London Heathrow. The arrest has been vehemently condemned by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who described it as an egregious act of political persecution.
