Ashanti Regional Minister Issues Ultimatum to Illegal Miners

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amonkobene, has issued a stern warning to miners operating indiscriminately on forest reserves and water bodies. He has given a two-week deadline for these miners to cease activities and vacate the sites before the regional team takes action.
In a recent address to the media, Dr. Amonkobene emphasized the commitment of President John Dramani Mahama to implement robust measures aimed at eradicating illegal mining activities. He assured that the region is fully prepared to tackle both illegal and irresponsible mining practices that threaten the environment.
The Minister also mentioned that he has engaged in discussions with other regional ministers whose rivers connect to the Ashanti Region, focusing on protecting water bodies from pollution.
Additionally, Dr. Amonkobene revealed that he and the Chief Coordinating Director have identified 618 incomplete projects left by the previous NPP government. He pledged to ensure that due diligence is followed to facilitate their completion.
