Youth wing of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on the Ghana Police Service to arrest the youth leader of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Henry Nana Boakye within the next 24hrs.

Failure to effect the arrest of the NPP youth leader, according to George Opare Addo known as Pablo, the NDC National Youth Organizer shall  compel the NDC to  demand justice for its  colleague, the National Communication Officer, Mr. Sammy Gyemfi.

The NDC’s national communication officer Mr. Sammy Gyemfi was assaulted by the National Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party. Henry Nana Boakye during a live radio program on Asempa fm in Accra on Friday.

Mr. Sammy Gyemfi has since lodged an official complaint at the Regional Police CID for further action.

Addressing a news conference in Accra, the NDC expressed disappointment in the police service over the latest election violence by the thugs of the ruling NPP in the just discredited by-election at the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.

“We demand the immediate arrest of the violent thug, Henry Nana Boakye within 24 hours”, he said.

He warned that “if by Monday, the arrest has not been affected, we will consider this as an abdication of the responsibility of the police administration”.

Mr. Opare Addo reiterated that “we will have no other option than to mobilize our members to demand justice for our comrade”.

The NDC youth leader is urging members and party lovers to remain calm, whilst calling on the members  to be battle ready to respond in multiple measures if the police refuses to arrest Nana B within 24 hours.

He described the Nana Addo led government as ‘worst ever’ in the history of the country that is trying to intimidate opposition parties with the state security and vigilante groups.

Some members of the opposition NDC were subjected to police brutality including the deputy National Youth Organizer,  Mr. Eric Edem Agbana at the just ended Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency by-election.

The Akufo Addo government has deployed its vigilante group ‘invisible forces’, dressed in police and military uniforms to shoot and beat up innocent Ghanaian citizens who were there to exercise their constitutional rights to choose their leader.
