Amissah-Arthur’s death has come as a shock – Rawlings
Former President Jerry John Rawlings has expressed his condolences to the family of former Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, who passed away on Friday.
According to the former president, the news “has come as a shock”.
Mr Amissah-Arthur died at the 37 Military Hospital after he collapsed during a morning work-out.
He is said to have been in good health and had even been in the Central Region last weekend for the National Democratic Congress’ constituency elections.
NDC’s National Organiser Kofi Adams had even told TV3 at the 37 Military Hospital on Friday that Mr Amissah-Arthur was part of a long meeting at the party’s headquarters in Adabraka the day before.
“Paa Kwesi @KBAmissahArthur was a consummate professional who exercised his duties with dignity and humility,” Mr Rawlings wrote on Twitter.
“My sincere condolences to his family. Fare thee well. Sir”.
The NDC, which Mr Rawlings founded, has indicated that a line of activities will be rolled out soon to give a “glowing and befitting” tribute to their 2012 and 2016 vice presidential candidate.
