The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused President Akufo-Addo of deliberate attempt to silence and prevent minority groups from voting in the upcoming December polls.
According to them, president Akufo-Addo’s attitude during the just ended voter registration exercise was a clear indication of his plans to released his attack dogs on innocent citizens in the December elections.
The Director of Elections of NDC, Hon. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah made to this known when he address the media in Accra on Thursday.
He described as unacceptable to lost a life of a citizen just because the person was exercising his or her democratic right to register and vote.
He expressed disgust at the unprecedented number of State sponsored militants that government has released to brutalize people, threatened law enforcement agents who were assigned to keep law and order.
Mr. Akrah was of the view that the President refusal to implement the recommendations of Short Commission’s white paper was a clear indication to distrupt the peace of this country in the upcoming general elections.
Both Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) and the Minority parties in the country have corroborated the unprecedented violence characterised the registration exercise.
President Akufo-Addo as usual of him, claimed to have not seen or heard of any incidence or violence attacks during the registration exercise.
The president violence mantra that characterised the registration exercise attracted attention of the London based bbc to report on its network.
Opposition NDC rejects the president claims that he was not aware of voter suppression in most of its strongholds.
NDC therefore called for an independent audit into the current voter registration.
