The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed claims by former Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei-Adutwum, linking the 2025 WASSCE results to alleged poor management under the current administration, insisting that the results reflect the true academic ability of students.

In its statement, GES described the former minister’s assertions as an attempt to divert attention from his own failures in managing the examination process while he was in office.

“Management views the 2025 WASSCE results as a true reflection of academic performance. Any suggestion that the outcome is due to administrative lapses is false,” the statement said.

The Service explained that the 2025 examinations were conducted under heightened security measures, including strengthened supervision, strict invigilation and wider enforcement of examination protocols.

Ahead of the examinations, a clear warning was issued by the Ministry of Education and GES that any individual found aiding or abetting examination malpractice would face severe consequences. These measures, according to the Service, resulted in the arrest of some students and staff who attempted to engage in illegal practices.

GES emphasised that these steps are part of a broader effort to restore confidence in Ghana’s examination system, which has in recent years faced challenges related to malpractice and credibility.

The Service further clarified that rumors suggesting allowances for teachers had been cancelled are untrue. GES noted that the CAGD has already given official reasons for the delay in November payments.

Looking ahead, GES also reminded students and the general public that Ghana will be participating in the international version of the WASSCE, written by all West African countries, beginning in May/June 2026. Students were advised to prepare thoroughly for this transition.

GES concluded by assuring the nation that it remains committed to upholding the sanctity of examinations and will continue to collaborate with all education stakeholders to improve teaching, learning and transparency within the system.

The statement was signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at the Ghana Education Service.
