The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer hopeful, Hon.  Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has indicated that he has nothing against former president John Dramani Mahama.

He also indicated he holds no grudges against any NDC member who doesn’t support his bid to lead the NDC for election 2020.

The experienced legislature was addressing the media in Accra during a press conference organized to clarify certain alleged statements he made during his recent tour of the Volta Region.

He explained that his statements were taken out of context and that he never meant to insult or look down on people with disabilities.

Hon. Bagbin further explained he never said those that he mentioned in his statements are not competent for appointment but just that they were placed in wrong places which caused the NDC severely during the elections.

The Nadowli -Kaleo MP used the occasion to apologize to the NDC family for  for making comments that should have been dealt with as an in- house  issue .

He also apologized for the delay in reacting to the criticisms on both social and mainstream media as a result of the statements he made in the Volta Region.

My delay to react was because I was outside the country on official duty but I have to cut short my trip to return and address the issue because of the importance I attached to the matter

“It is to also reassure Ghanaians especially the Ghana Federation of the Disabled, Civil Society Organizations and the NDC family who felt offended by his alleged comments of his respect and support to disable persons.

“As a leader I take full responsibility for the indiscretion in going public with issues that should otherwise be private to the NDC.” I have learnt that such disclosure could raise emotions among some sections of the society “.

Upon his return he disclosed that he has called to apologize personally to some of the affected persons he mentioned in his comments. He admitted that he couldn’t get into contact with all of them as some have their phones off which according to him they might be out of the country.

On his bid to lead the NDC,  the leader noted that he is  more than confident of winning the party’s presidential primaries and that all those saying he is in to destroy the NDC party  will soon reverse their notes.

“My opponents should continue marketing me indirectly which will make the people know me more and realize my good message and mission for Ghana “.

The experienced politician mentioned that he will be more committed and dedicated to the course of the great NDC party regardless of the outcome of the primaries.

He promised to fully support any candidate that wins the primaries to help recapture power for the party in 2020.

The MP who doubles as the second deputy speaker of Parliament maintained that he holds no grudges against former president Mahama’s candidature or the 94 MPs that were alleged to have endorsed the former president.

“Rather I welcome him to the race and I do also interact with those MPs regularly on issues of importance regarding our party “.
