In the wake of recent spate of murdering of Chiefs in the country, some Chiefs in the Greater Accra Region have called on the government to provide them with adequate police protection to prevent assassination of traditional rulers. 

Speaking in an interview with Ghanaiandemocrat.com in Accra, the Chief of Papase in the Greater Accra region, Nii Kommey III Papa-Asa expressed worry and fear over the recent incidence involving the killing of traditional leaders in the country.

 His comment comes after the murder of the Prampram Mankralo, Nene Atsure Benta which he described the act as barbaric

Nene Atsure Benta was ambushed and shot in his Mercedes Benz car by unknown gunmen Thursday at Appolonia in the Kpone Katamanso Municipality whiles returning from a meeting at the Regional House of Chiefs in Dodowa.

Nii Komey Papa-Asa III called on traditional leaders to resolve their differences amicably, saying nobody should hide behind the chieftaincy institution to commit crimes.

He lamented over the rise in chieftaincy related cases in the various traditional areas especially in the Greater Accra region. 

Nii Komey Papa-Asa III noted a situation where two persons ascend one throne of the Ga State is not only an indictment on the people of GaDagme, but to the nation as a whole.

He therefore called on the principal kingmakers and elders to ensure that the legitimate and rightful persons are enstooled chiefs in Ga the State in order to forestall peace and tranquility within the Greater Accra Region. 

Nii Komey Papa-Asa III appealed to the government to provide the chiefs with security and urged to Ghana Police Service to introduce Community Policing in the communities to curtail murdering of Chiefs in the country. He encouraged residents to report unknown and strange characters within their communities to the Police for swift action on criminals.
