Bui Power Authority (BPA) beat competition from Strategic Power Solutions, Sunon Asogli, Volta River Authority and Trojan Power to win the “Best Industry Leadership Award- Power” at the second edition of the Ghana Energy Awards held on November 30, 2018 at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra.
The Ghana Energy Awards is an initiative of the Energy Media Group aimed at recognizing the achievements of corporate entities and individuals in Ghana’s Energy Industry.
This year’s award to BPA is the second following the 2017 “Emerging Energy Company of the Year – Power” award at the maiden edition of the ceremony. The two (2) awards are obvious indications that the hard work of BPA’s Management and Staff are being noticed in the Power sector and Ghana’s Energy Industry at large.
This year’s award in particular affirms the Energy Industry’s recognition of the giant strides BPA is making in pioneering the development of renewable energy resources in Ghana. It is worthy of note that under the leadership of the Mr. Fred Oware (CEO), BPA has continued the efficient and reliable delivery of power to the National Interconnected Transmission System (NITS) whiles pursuing the development of renewable energy sources such as;
§  30kw Tsatsadu Mini Hydro at Alavanyo in the Volta Region.
§  Advance feasibilities studies done on Western Rivers for the development of small hydropower dams.
§  Development of solar resources across at within the Bui Enclave and the Three Northern Regions.
In the year 2019, BPA has scheduled to oversee the implementation of the following solar project;
§  10 MW by BPA
§  50MW by Strategic Power Solutions
§  50MW by China Power/Sinohydro Corporation Limited
BPA’s Corporate Affairs Manager (Mrs. Cherie Adamu-Lawson) received this year’s award on behalf of Management and Staff. Mrs. Adamu-Lawson thanked the organizers for the award and reiterated BPA’s resolve to lead the charge towards the development of renewable sources power in Ghana in line with the Authority’s tagline; Renewable Energy Leaders.
