Former President Mahama, some NDC bigwigs visited Koku Anyidoho, Wednesday at the CID headquarters

The Director of Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), Mr William Akwasi Appiah has been sacked, the Minister of National Security, Mr Albert Kan Dapaah, has confirmed.

He has been replaced by Ambassador Rashid Inusah who is the head of Research.

According to a Starrfmonline.com report, Mr Appiah was sacked after a meeting on Thursday.

“Yes, there has been some changes. We’re issuing a statement to that effect soon,” Mr. Dapaah is reported to have told Starrfmonline.com.

No official statement has been offered for the changes but security sources have told Graphic Online that a picture taken of former President John Mahama’s visit to Mr Koku Anyidoho on Wednesday while in custody at the BNI could be the reason.

The security sources explained that that judgement to allow a photo of a suspect in custody is a serious security breach and a poor judgment on his part.

They say while the former president has every right to visit him, photo ops was a “no, no”.
